Skeleton Fairies
Skeletons are common in my work. They are a reminder of the brevity of life. Death is everywhere, in the fallen leafs outside, in the insects on your windowsill, the meat in your refrigerator, etc... These fairies are about the presence of death which we tend to avoid. In a way, the fairies are telling you not to take everything so seriously. We are all here for a brief moment. And that's ok.

Self Portraits
Self portraits are interesting to me. I like studying the great artist's self portraits. Frida Kahlo is one of my favorites. To me, self portraits are a glimpse into the artist's psyche and a record of how they saw themselves. I have tried exploring this in my own work. Though I must admit, most of the time I'm working on them I feel like a narcissist. I think self portraits in general are narcissistic in a way. Especially Frida Khalo's! Researchers and historians believe that Kahlo suffered from an array of mental illnesses—from post traumatic stress disorder to borderline personality disorder and maybe even bipolar disorder. She developed a peculiar disruptive, unpredictable and intense personality. Her self portraits reflect the storms she had going on in her head. I love that.
I don't know if I will continue to grow this collection but I will keep working on the way I communicate through art.

Lotería—the Spanish word for lottery— is a traditional game of chance. It's often referred to as the Mexican bingo, where illustrated cards replace bingo balls. Latin and Hispanic communities have been playing this game for hundreds of years.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.
I mint a batch of these artworks every month. I am planing on making a set of cards for every jiu-jitsu move there is. Check in monthly to see the collection grow!

Painting Meditations
